Preparing for Our Canadian Thanksgiving!

Preparations are underway for our Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend!
Fall is my absolute favourite of all seasons...crisp morning air, warm afternoons, colourful arrays of leaves and best of all, Ava's Birthday! (October 16th).
We have really worked hard on our Fall/Thanksgiving Crafts this week and I can't wait to show you the finished products...
But first, I wanted to share you Ava's rendition of a coloured "Scarecrow".

About Me

I am the happy Wife of Brent and Mom of 5 year old Ava. It's not unusual for me to have a variety of projects on the go at any given time. I love multi-tasking!

"For me, sewing is like a good book. It's hard to put down and each of my designs tell a story".

My grandmother Amelia first taught me to sew when I was 9 years old. My first project ever was a skirt make from a faded old yellow pillow case. Let me tell you, I wore that skirt with a huge sense of pride and accomplishment.

I remember my Grandmother telling me that sewing is becoming a lost art and that it was a shame there are many women today who don't know how to sew. Sewing was an absolute necessity for her while growing up in the early 1900s and was essential skill for surviving through the Great Depression. I am preserving the art of sewing with each item that is produced in my design room.

DIY projects get me excited while Nature inspires me...I love to look at objects created by Mother Nature Herself and convert them into my own fabric versions.

I started teaching Ava to sew at the age of 3. She is my biggest Fan and can't wait to see what I have made for her.

"For me, there is no sweeter moment than having little Miss Ava play with her dolls in my design room while I stitch away at my machine."
